“Systematic targeting of [the] The opposition and the media violate any norm of democracy, ”said Gehlot.
Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Friday strongly condemned the first informational reports recorded against Congressman Shashi Tharoor and six senior journalists for the violence during the Farmer Tractor rally in Delhi on Republic Day.
Mr Gehlot said the FIRs were “clearly an attempt to intimidate and harass the opposition and the media”. “Systematic targeting of [the] Opposition and media violate every norm of democracy, ”tweeted Gehlot.
The FIRs against Mr. Tharoor and senior editors and journalists have been registered in Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh for spreading disharmony and promoting hatred and ill will. The Uttar Pradesh FIR registered by the Noida Police Department has charged Mr. Tharoor and others with sedition charges.
