Former Haryana CM OP Chautala tests positive for coronavirus

(File Photo: PTI) The former Prime Minister of Haryana and the Indian chief of Lok Dal, Om Prakash Chautala, have tested positive for coronavirus. He was admitted to Gurugram’s Medanta Hospital. It was reported that the grandson of 85-year-old OP Chautala, Karan Chautala, attended a wedding ceremony two days ago. OP Chautala and his son Ajay Chautala were convicted by a Delhi court in January 2013 in connection with the illegal hiring of over 3,000 teachers. Both were found guilty of accepting bribes in exchange for the selection of teachers. Previously his grandson and Haryana’s deputy prime minister Dushyant Chautala had tested positive for coronavirus in October. Chautala had turned away from INLD and founded his own party called the Jannayak Janta Party, which is an ally of the BJP in Haryana.

SC tells Centre: Install CCTV cameras, audio recorders in all interrogation rooms, lockups

In a landmark ruling on Wednesday, the Supreme Court ordered the government to ensure the installation of surveillance cameras and recording equipment in all interrogation rooms that have been locked up by various investigative agencies. In addition to the police, the SC ruling also applies to investigative authorities such as the CBI, the ED and the NIA.
