Mining and Geology Minister Murugesh Nirani called on Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, Coal and Mining, Pralhad Joshi in Delhi on Saturday, raising the issue of the £ 18,000 accumulated fund made up of fines and levies of iron ore mines under the direction of the Supreme Court.
Mr Nirani called on Mr Joshi to provide legal and administrative assistance to bring the funds raised to the state’s kitten so that implementation of the State’s Comprehensive Environmental Plan for the Mining Impact Zone (CEPMIZ) can begin. The fund has accumulated over the past six years. Instructions from the Monitoring Committee are required to continue the implementation of CEPMIZ to rehabilitate the mining devastated areas in the three districts of Ballari, Chitradurga and Tumakuru.
Mr. Nirani informed Mr. Joshi of the District Mineral Fund’s collection of 2,200 crore in several districts and urged him to provide the center with the necessary assistance to run welfare programs. He spoke about issues related to the mining activities of Karnataka State Minerals Corporation Ltd. (KSMCL), the approval of which is still pending in the center.
