Gokulam Kerala surpasses TRAU, now closer to the top six.
RoundGlass Punjab FC scored 2-0 goals in each half against Chennai City FC in the I-League at Kalyani Municipal Stadium on Saturday.
Papa Babacar Diawara found the goal late in the first half before Rupert Nongrum came on as a replacement to double the lead for RoundGlass.
The win helped him to the top with 14 points from eight games.
Chennai City stayed on nine after seven games.
Punjab FC had a bigger stake in the exchange and went on the hunt early when a 10th-minute injury forced Chennai City to replace reliable midfielder Mohamed Iqbal.
In another game at the Kishore Bharati Stadium, Gokulam Kerala FC beat TRAU FC 3-1 to improve their chances of a place in the top six.
The results:
TRAU 1 (Komron Tursunov 87) lost to Gokulam Kerala 3 (Emil Benny 16, Sharif Mohammad 57, Zodingliana Ralte 86).
Punjab FC 2 (Papa Babacar Diawara 43, Rupert Nongrum 88) v Chennai City 0.
