Labour Ministry finalises rules under 4 codes, reform to be a reality soon

The four general codes on wages, industrial relations, social security and occupational safety, health and working conditions (occupational safety) were communicated after the President had approved.

The Ministry of Labor and Employment has set the rules of the four labor laws that pave the way for reforms by notifying them soon for implementation.

The four general codes on wages, industrial relations, social security and occupational safety, health and working conditions (occupational safety) were communicated after the President had approved. However, in order to implement these four codes, the rules must be communicated.

Now the ministry has completed the consultation process on the draft regulations for the four codes and set them up for notification.

In conversation with PTIMinister of Labor Apurva Chandra said, “We have set the rules under the four codes required to implement the four labor codes. We are ready to notify these rules. States are working to establish the rules under the four codes. ”

Parliament had passed four codes of four general codes on wages, industrial relations, social security and health and safety, and working and working conditions, which would ultimately streamline 44 key labor laws.

The wages code was approved by parliament in 2019, while the other three codes were approved by both chambers in 2020.

The ministry wants to implement all four codes at once. After defining the rules, four codes can now be notified at once.

On February 8, 2021, Mr. Chandra said in a press conference: “The regulatory process is already underway and is expected to be completed in the coming week. All parties involved are also consulted when rules are being drawn up. This ministry would soon be able to put the four codes into effect, namely the Code of Wages, Industrial Relations, Occupational Safety, Health and Working Conditions (Occupational Safety and Health) and Social Security Codes. “Since work is a simultaneous issue, certain rules would also be established by states under the four codes.

States are also in the process of notifying draft regulations and holding tripartite consultations to consolidate those for implementation.
