The second dose of vaccine will start tomorrow

The state will begin the second dose of vaccine for healthcare workers starting Monday. A decision on this was made at a meeting with officials from the center.

This despite a WHO panel suggesting an interval of 8-12 weeks between doses. COVID-19 experts in the state have also suggested that after eight weeks, the second dose not only provides greater effectiveness, but also gives plenty of time to plan and cover more people. However, the state cannot answer its own phone call and must follow the center’s guidelines that the second dose should be given 28 days after the first.

Oxford University to test their vaccine on children

Oxford University plans to test its COVID-19 vaccine in children for the first time, becoming the youngest vaccine developer to assess whether the coronavirus shot is effective in young people.

The study, announced on Saturday, aims to recruit 300 volunteers between the ages of 6 and 17, with up to 240 receiving the COVID-19 vaccine and the rest receiving a control meningitis vaccine.

Andrew Pollard, chief researcher of the Oxford Vaccine Study, said that while most children will not get severely ill with COVID-19, “it is important to establish the safety and immune response to the vaccine in children and adolescents as some children will benefit from vaccination . ”
