Only CM and his colleagues standing tall during pandemic, not people, says Stalin

The DMK President claimed that the government had resorted to misconduct in completing the tenders from purchasing the bleaching powder to buying the drugs

DMK President MK Stalin said on Saturday that the time for the AIADMK government is fast approaching to suffer a serious debacle in the gathering’s upcoming polls as people are utterly disappointed with the current government.

Speaking on Ungal Thogudhiyil Stalin (Stalin in your constituency), an electoral program in the Virudhachalam constituency in the Cuddalore district, he said the AIADMK regime abandoned people without caring about them during the pandemic.

Mr Stalin said it was really amusing that the government was advertising and claiming it stood high against the background of the state after seeing 8 lakh cases of COVID-19 positive and around 12,000 succumbing to the infection. According to him, in reality, only Prime Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami and his cabinet colleagues stood tall because of their questionable practices, and not the people. You can’t become a leader just through advertising, he said.

Regarding the Chief Minister’s criticism of him that he (Stalin) knew nothing about hard work, the DMK leader said he did not understand what Mr Palaniswami meant by hard work. “Hard work does not mean crawling in front of a person and overthrowing them for political achievement in order to enjoy the seat of power,” he said. “My father Kalaignar (M. Karunanidhi) had taught me that the virtues of hard work lay in helping people. But Mr. Palaniswami’s understanding of hard work is quite amusing, ”he said.

Mr Stalin said that he always stayed with the people and met them personally during the Thoothukudi fire, anti-NEET protests, electricity tariff increase and farm laws.

“I wanted £ 5,000 a month to be paid out to those affected by the pandemic. The prime minister claimed money was a hurdle, but the government had approved high payments to contractors, ”he said. “The government had resorted to suspected misconduct in completing tenders from purchasing bleaching powder to buying medicines,” he said. “The government has indulged itself in irregularities in the supply of food to people affected by the pandemic,” he said, adding, “It is time to throw this government off.”
