CBSE Board Exams 2021: No dates finalised yet, exams to be conducted in written mode

CBSE has confirmed that the upcoming board exams in 2021 will be in writing and no dates have been confirmed yet.

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) recently confirmed in a statement that the upcoming 2021 CBSE Board exams for Grade 10 and 12 students will be held in written form rather than online.

In addition to confirming the exam format, CBSE has also stated that no fixed dates have been announced for the board exams in grades 10 and 12. Due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, students are currently unsure about whether to take exams.

“A final decision has not yet been made on when board reviews will be held, and consultations with stakeholders are ongoing. The exams will be conducted in written mode at the time they are held and not in online mode. The tests are conducted under all COVID protocols, ”said a CBSE official.

The 2020 CBSE board exams have been postponed for some subjects this year due to the sudden surge in Covid-19 cases in the country. The tests were conducted later in May for these subjects using strict Covid-19 protocols.

Practical exam alternatives could be explored: CBSE

Schools across the country have been closed because of the Covid-19 pandemic in the country and as a result, students were unable to attend practical classes in school laboratories, making them poorly prepared for the CBSE board’s practical exams in 2021.

CBSE officials alleviated the students’ anxiety, stating, “If students are unable to do internship in class before exams, alternatives to hands-on exams must be considered.”

Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal will have a live session on December 10th where he will interact with students and clarify their questions and doubts regarding the conduct of the upcoming 2021 board exams and entrance exams.

Schools in India have been closed across the country since March 16 due to the Covid-19 pandemic and classes will be held online for the time being. Some states have also decided to keep schools closed for the remainder of 2020.
