Great and former Indian captain Sunil Gavaskar, speaking to India Today, said Virat Kohli’s evolution as a top ODI player and the sacrifices he has made to get extremely fit has been inspiring and phenomenal. Gavaskar’s comments came after Kohli became the fastest man with 12,000 ODI runs on December 2.

“His performance in all game formats was Virat. He was great. The way he grew as a batsman compared to what we said as U-19 players in 2008 and 2009. The way he was Game that is how he made sacrifices to become a Superfit cricketer, which has been inspiring not only for teens but also for those focused on staying fit, “said Gavaskar.

“More than 12,000 runs than he had half a century today. I think he played 251 ODI games where he had 43 centuries and 60 fifties. So we’re talking about 103 out of 251 where he went over fifty This is absolutely amazing. I don’t think anyone else did that. This consistency, this conversion from fifty to hundreds was amazing. I keep saying beyond the phenomenon. We have to keep celebrating this. We should look forward to the next 1000, which will hopefully come in the next 5 or 6 months. “
