The Karnataka-based MRN Group, owned by Mining and Geology Minister Murugesh R. Nirani, who also operates sugar production and other agro-based businesses, has signed a contract with Rawmatt Industries Pvt. Ltd. signed. Ltd. in the first phase, converting 500 diesel tractors into CNG tractors.
The agreement was made between Rawmatt and Vijay Nirani, Managing Director of MRN Group, during the launch of the CNG tractor in New Delhi in the presence of EU Minister for Roads and Highways Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister of Agriculture Narendra Singh Tomar and Petroleum and Natural met Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
Conversion costs
The cost of converting the diesel engine tractor to a CNG tractor was around £ 2 to £ 2.5. The MRN group would set up CNG dispensing stations, which would include an engine conversion and a CNG filling station in the Bagalkot district.
